Resources for Communities and Neighborhoods:

Active citizens are the foundation of any great democracy. Our nation has been at its best when people are active in the civic process, helping to inform our leaders to make the decisions that are best for our communities. Right now, people across the nation are actively engaging in their local communities. As we come together at town hall meetings, neighborhood forums, and places of worship to exchange and debate ideas, we gather the momentum to accomplish great things.

We’ve all heard the phrase “there’s power in numbers.” It’s true. An organized community can accomplish much more than an individual on their own. Our communities are where we call home, where we raise our children, and where we develop relationships that last a lifetime. Our communities are investments well worth making, and together we can create the conditions that lead to prosperous change for all.

Organizing is an opportunity to rise together. Communities all over New Mexico and across the nation are working together to reduce crime; create more beautiful streets; and create bikeways, parks, and open spaces. Communities are advocating for fair zoning, land use planning, traffic control, recreational needs, quality schools, fair wages, and access to healthy foods.

Your local school, church, or community organization can be a great place to get involved, share ideas, grow a collective voice, and advocate for what is best for your community.
